Witchhazel
|
Although there is a bite in the air, and the cold winds sweep down from the North from time to time, the grounds here at New Lands are full of new life. The witchhazel and wintersweet are in full flower; the crocuses are up alongside the snowdrops, the gold of winter jasmine and celandine bring sunshine to the dark bushes, and even a few daffodils are showing their heads.

Golden Temple in the Frost
|
The Temple gleams in the light from the low winter sun, and often glows gold in the sunset, when the sky lights up with brilliant red and orange on many a night. We are fortunate here that the Temple and the grounds are on a hill, with further hills in the distance, and trees all around, this means that we see the full glory of the sunsets, and the Temple front, facing east, gets the first rays of the morning sun.

Crocuses

As frequent visitors to this site will know, we often begin this news with talk of the changing seasons; partly because we hope it gives you a visual image of life here, and also to reflect the deeper spiritual message. White Eagle often used such natural imagery when conveying the beauty and purpose behind life. At this time, the sun seems to be very much in our thoughts—sometimes because physical sunlight seems in short supply on many a grey day. However, the White Eagle work is to seek to help people become aware of the spiritual sun which is always there. And at the beginning of this new year that inner sun seems particularly strong.

Through our retreats and courses this year we hope to reflect that spiritual sun to all, and help people to find it within themselves. Please see the retreats section (click here) for all details. We begin with the new venture of a vegetarian cookery weekend in February (click here for details.)
It might be interesting to note that besides running retreats and courses here in England, many of us also travel to our centres throughout the world to offer the same, and to give them support. Links to all these centres can be found on our Community page, and perhaps you will be tempted to visit.
In June our leaders from America, Australasia and many European countries will be with us for a gathering of minds and hearts—a physical coming-together echoing the spirit of brotherhood which we seek to develop inwardly. This is our year of ‘the worldwide family’, and, if you feel in harmony with the essence of White Eagle’s work, we hope that during this year you will feel part of that family, even if you cannot come to any event in person.
