Vegetarian Cookery Weekend
taught by
Verity Nason
Saturday 16th February and Sunday 17th February
Verity (New Lands' cook and housekeeper) has had so many requests for her delicious recipes and for ideas for vegetarian cooking, that she is running this weekend for those who would like to come and learn how to make some of the recipes they may have enjoyed whilst here on retreat, or perhaps find out how to make a vegetarian sausage, for example! There will be lots of hands on work, and very little just watching, and so numbers are limited to 8 places only.
An information sheet will be sent in response to your application telling you what to bring and asking for any particular recipes or help you would like. All ingredients will be provided. We need to have your application for this weekend by 1st February at the latest.
Please email New Lands for further details or to book.
The cost is £75 for the course, plus accommodation. Please click here for accommodation options.
Easter Weekend Retreat—'The Self and the Selfless'
led by
Colum Hayward
Friday evening 21st March to Sunday pm 23rd March
The title of this short retreat is taken from White Eagle's beautiful instruction, 'Be strong in the self, but be stronger in the selfless'. Easter is traditionally associated with sacrifice, and White Eagle regularly uses this word, while stressing the importance of the Resurrection. With Colum, we explore how the individual self relates to the great Self, and what the sacrifice of self really means. In White Eagle's words, the reward of sacrifice is the Golden Harvest (and his book of that name, recently republished as LIVING WITH LOVE, would form useful background reading for the weekend retreat).
The cost for the weekend, including full board Friday evening to Sunday teatime is £150.
Healing Workshop
led by
Astra Ferro
Friday evening 18th April to Sunday 20th April
This Weekend Workshop is open to all, whether or not you are involved in White Eagle's healing work. It is designed for those interested in self-healing and soul-understanding and in reaching out to others through a better understanding of the spirit we truly are. During this workshop we will reach beyond the personality to the inner teacher and work with the Light to bring healing into our lives. There will be times for meditative process, group work and also moments for quiet inner reflection.
Cost of the weekend retreat, including full board and accommodation, Friday evening supper to Sunday tea time: £150. Please email
Anna for further details or to book.
'Outer Action-Inner Stillness'
Friday evening 2nd May to Monday morning 5th May
This long weekend is a completely new style of activity on which there is the option either to stay in New Lands House or to camp on the hilltop behind the Temple. Activities will mainly take place in the Temple buildings, and meals will be informal buffet style. The weekend is open to all from the ages of 16 to 96, and the theme is creating a balance between the demands of our outer life, and our inward spiritual attunement—a challenge we all face, in different forms in whatever decade of our physical lives we are!
The weekend will include both extrovert activity and times of meditation, and the emphasis is on finding a rhythm which works for us. On the Sunday afternoon there will be a professionally-facillitated drumming session, and the weekend will also include a session of paneurhythmy dance led by one of our New Lands brothers, and Tibetan bowls in the Temple. There will be times for discussion and sharing, and above all times when the focus is on shared stillness in our heart centre.
The cost of this long weekend has been deliberately set as economically as possible: £85.00 if you are staying at New Lands House and £45.00 if you are camping. (Costs include all meals and the drumming workshop.) Please email Jeremy Hayward for a full descriptive sheet about the event.
Temple Anniversary Day
Sunday 8th June from 10.30 am.
We offer a special morning for members at the Temple on our Anniversary Day. You are invited to a retreat morning which will be led by our Lodge Mother, Jenny Dent, with contributions from other ministers, including an astrological talk by Simon Bentley. Over the period of this anniversary, the mothers of our Temples in the Americas and Australasia (Jane Sorbi, Lyn Edwards and Gay Robinson) will be with us and also many of our European leaders. This day will thus make our year's theme, 'The Year of Our World-Wide Family' a living reality, and we know there will be an especially warm and loving spiritual blessing from all our family in the world of light.
In the afternoon we will hold our Temple Anniversay Service (our 34th Anniversary!) at the special time of 3.30 pm—everyone is of course welcome to this. You are invited to bring a packed lunch, although savoury and sweet snacks will be available in our special refreshment marquee; there will also be books and gifts on sale and all are welcome to enjoy the peace and beauty of the estate. There is no need for individual members to pre-book for this morning, but if you are bringing a group of 10 people or more please kindly let us know.

United Nations Day of Peace
Sunday 21st September
The 21st September is the United Nations designated Day of Peace, when the Secretary General tries to establish a day's annual observance of global non-violence and cease-fire. People in many countries throughout the world hold festivities and times of meditation on this day, and in 2008 we are making this day special both at the Temple at New Lands and in the London Lodge (add link!). At the Temple, our day begins with a morning for brothers of the Lodge. All visitors are invited to the Temple and grounds will be open to all from 2.00 pm onwards, with a special Star Meditation at 3.00 pm, and other activities following. Full details will be advertised in the Spring.
