‘The Timeless Wisdom’...monthly Study Days led by Colum Hayward
Sundays: 8th Feb, 8th March,
17th May, 14th June, 12th July, 13th Sept, 11th Oct. 11.00am to 4.00pm
What’s at the heart of what we so easily call ‘the Ancient Wisdom’ or ‘the Timeless Wisdom’? How different is it from the philosophy humankind has worked out for itself more recently? What is the basis of our ‘Wisdom School’?
In this monthly study class, join Colum Hayward in working out what’s ‘ancient’, what’s ‘new’ and what’s ‘right’! You’ll be doing some of the research yourself, but under Colum’s practised guidance.
The class is open to everyone, though preference will be given to members if there are too many applicants.
Cost £20 per day; the cost is designed to make these days accessible to all, and invite participation in the Wisdom School.
Marking both its own 68th Anniversary and the spring equinox, the London Lodge will be open house for this celebratory afternoon with brief talks, entertainment, refreshments and a special concluding service at 6.00 pm.
'An Inspirational Evening’ with Satish Kumar and Gilles Petit
Tuesday 31st March at 6.30pm
:
For the first time we welcome Satish Kumar (editor of Resurgence and inspirational speaker) to the London Lodge to give a talk on the pressing issues affecting us today and to share with us aspects of his life as a monk, a peacemaker, ecologist author and social reformer. Satish says ‘To be an Earth Pilgrim is to revere nature as our sacred home and see all life as a sacred journey to become at one with ourselves with others and with nature’
Before the talk, Gilles Petit, well known at the London Lodge as singer, teacher and musician, will captivate us all with a personal performance. Gilles aims to bring the soul of Indian Raga into the heart of western searching and creativity through ‘cosmic theatre’ and improvisation with the Sa Re Ga.
He says ‘Our capacity to move and sound close to the ground slowly and with a sense of mindfulness: all these give the voice its earthly roots and spatial capacity’.
The cost of this exceptional evening is £10. We expect the London Lodge to be full for this occasion; pre-booking is strongly advised.
‘Astrology Without Tears’ a day with Simon Bentley
Saturday 4th April 10.00am to 4.00pm
This day is aimed primarily at those many people who are very interested in astrology but do not want or do not feel able to tackle the mathematical and intellectual ‘nuts and bolts’ of the subject.
We shall be approaching the fundamental principles of astrology in as user-friendly a way as possible, demonstrating that a real feeling for the planets and stars does not have to involve complicated study and intellectual toil!
Cost for day £20, concessions £15. Light refreshments will be provided, please bring a vegetarian packed lunch.
‘Attunement Through Sacred Dance’ a day of Paneurhythmy with Morelle Forster
10th May 10.30 am to 4.30 pm
Paneurhythmy is a form of sacred dance originally developed by the deeply respected Bulgarian spiritual teacher Peter Deunov. He wrote ‘Combined with music these movements give one the opportunity to receive cosmic energy to spread it harmoniously within oneself and to exchange it with other people’.
Falling within the Creative Arts area of the Wisdom School, this day is divided into morning (10.30 am to 1.00 pm) and afternoon (2.00 pm to 4.30 pm) sessions. The morning devoted to teaching movement and the afternoon to showing a DVD, further work and discussion.
Cost of day £20 (or £10 for morning or afternoon only). A simple Bulgarian lunch will be provided (£5.00, pre-bookable) or bring a vegetarian packed lunch.
‘The Creative Power of Sound’ Workshop led by Anna Hayward
Sunday 7th June 11.00am to 5.00pm
Understand more of the creative power within yourself, as well as the ‘harmony of the spheres’, and how to harness it and channel it through sound. No one is individually put on the spot; an environment of lightheartedness and exploration is created. If you long to be able to express your true self better, then maybe this is for you.
Come and help earth our Wisdom School through the power of the spoken and sung word!
Cost for day £20, concessions £15. Light refreshments will be provided, please bring a vegetarian packed lunch.
This day will be in a format similar to the greatly–appreciated Silent Retreat days led by Colum Hayward for the last three years, which included taking our silence into the Japanese Garden in Holland Park.
The day offers the opportunity to grow confident in your own spiritual nature, your self, in a nurturing environment. Open to all.
Cost of Retreat day £15. Please bring a vegetarian packed lunch.
'From Dibley to Shakespeare’
an evening with Gary Waldhorn
Tuesday 7th July 6.30pm
Gary Waldhorn, well known as David, lord of the manor in ‘The Vicar of Dibley’, will be ‘Here to Answer your Questions’ and will entertain you with anecdotes from his illustrious career in theatre and television.
Find out more of what goes on behind the scenes from a respected and serious Shakespearian actor who, like many others, has come more readily and intimately into our lives through the power of television.
This is a day for looking at the still pioneering, unconditionally loving way in which White Eagle guides us towards understanding what happens in ourselves and in others, particularly when things seem to go wrong.
The day is conducted with as much safety as can be provided. All processes and experiences are carried out inwardly or confidentially, with no need to share unless you wish; thus each one can approach the material of the day from where they uniquely are. Respect is the key note we seek to sound together!
Cost for day £20, concessions £15. Light refreshments will be provided, please bring a vegetarian packed lunch.
