Tibetan Singing Bowls with Frank Perry
Sunday 18th May from 12.30 pm (performance 3.15 pm)
Explore the world of Tibetan Singing Bowls. In this workshop (12.30 pm), with celebrated musician Frank Perry, we shall explore the numerous designs of bowls, the various playing techniques, alongside singing bowl sound exercises and sonic meditations within the theme of the Wesak festival and the deep peace and inner tranquillity of the Lord Buddha on the 18th May.
The afternoon concert will be a meditative improvisation upon a large collection of superb singing bowls played by an acknowledged expert who has been working in improvised music since 1968. Abiding in the peace and love of the forthcoming Wesak festival this will be a form of sonic worship and communion in Spirit.
Cost of afternoon £20, or £10 for either workshop or concert. It is necessary to pre-book for the workshop. Light refreshments provided. To book, please click here. You are welcome to stay on for the 6 pm service in the Lodge, on the theme of Wesak.
Frank Perry's Solstice Celebration
Saturday 21st June at 3.00pm
On the significant day of the summer solstice, Saturday June 21st at 3pm, Frank Perry, who is a visionary percussionist, gives us the rare opportunity to experience his collection of unique sacred instruments gathered over a lifetime. Frank has moved through blues, folk, and jazz, playing alongside such bands as Fleetwood Mac and Jethro Tull and with artists: Julie Driscoll, Brian Eno, Tim Wheater, Willie Rushton and Steven Berkoff. With his own group he played frequently with the greats of the jazz world during frequent sessions at London's Marquee and Ronnie Scott's.
Frank has studied the religious music of the East for many years, working with innovators in the field of improvised music. He and his family have strong connections with the White Eagle Lodge. At the solstice he presents his own sacred music and it is an opportunity not to be missed.
Cost £10
Sound Healing with Tibetan Singing Bowls
Sunday 21st Sept. from 11.45 am (performance 3.15 pm)
Sunday 21st September is the United Nations designated Day of Peace. Both at the Temple at New Lands and in the London Lodge we are honouring the purpose of this day by holding a range of special activities. The London Day begins with a time of quiet attunement for peace under the Star at 12 noon (please arrive 10 mins early) and continues with Frank Perry's unique music.
In the morning workshop, starting at 12.30 pm, Frank will share his own ways of working with the bowls in his system of Spiritual sound healing—utilising sound, colours, and chakras. Frank began working with sound healing around 1978 and started to unfold his unique form of sound healing with the bowls in 1983.
For the afternoon concert at 3.15 pm, Frank will offer an improvisation exploring harmonics and deep listening using the primordial sounds of Tibetan singing bowls. These ancient instruments are specially designed for assisting meditation and for leading us into that inner stillness where we may commune with the invisible worlds and our own inner Self.
Cost of afternoon £20, or £10 for either workshop or concert. It is necessary to pre-book for the workshop. Light refreshments provided. To book, please click here. You are welcome to stay on for the 6 pm service in the Lodge, on the theme of the Equinox.
Silent Retreat Day led by Colum Hayward
Sunday 6th July 11.30 am to 5.00 pm
This day will be in a format similar to the greatly-appreciated Silent Retreat days led by Colum for the last two years, which included taking our silence into the Japanese Garden in Holland Park.
The day offers the opportunity to grow confident in your own spiritual nature, your Self, in a nurturing environment. Open to all, this day also fits well into the series 'Exploring Spiritual Community' because of the opportunity it provides to discover that real heart contact one with another is achieved as much when there are no words used as when we communicate with many words! Please bring a vegetarian packed lunch.
Cost of Retreat day £15.
Astrology and Healing
Sunday 20th July 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm
Astra Ferro and Simon Bentley will be sharing a joint presentation. This afternoon, open to everyone—no technical knowledge of astrology required—will explore how White Eagle's teaching on the arts of astrology and healing can provide us with knowledge and deeper insight into the healing processes which take place within us all.
Cost of afternoon £10.
