Q. ANCIENT SCIENCE OR LOAD
OF RUBBISH?
A. Astrology has always been a controversial subject, but whichever
view you take, a great many people regularly read the astrological
columns in newspapers and magazines. Maybe you are one of them!
However, does your interest extend beyond a light-hearted daily
read? Would you like to know more about what lies behind those columns?
If so read on
Q. SURELY ASTRONOMY IS
THE SCIENCE AND ASTROLOGY THE LOAD OF RUBBISH?
A. In the distant past, astronomy and astrology were not separated
from each other as they are today. This is commonly attributed to
the primitivity and superstition of ancient peoples, but it is now
known that many of these peoples were scientifically far more advanced
than we previously realized. They observed the heavens with considerable
accuracy, while their astrological conclusions (based on their observations)
affected the conduct of affairs at the highest level.
Q. SURELY WE CANT
BE EXPECTED TO BELIEVE THAT THE RAYS COMING FROM THE PLANETS AFFECT
US IN ANY WAY?
A. This is one of the commonest misconceptions about astrology.
REAL astrology does not and never did suggest that this
is the case. Rather, it rests on the premise that the universe outside
is mirrored by a universe within the human psyche and that it is
possible to use the movements of the outside universe to understand
the unfoldment of the inner one - a correspondence exists between
the two.
Q.
ISNT THAT RATHER FAR
FETCHED?
A. Hardly. There are so many correspondences between different
levels of life. Take, for example, the similarity between the basic
structure of the atom and that of a solar system, which mirror each
other in so many ways.
Q. SO WHAT HAPPENED TO
REAL ASTROLOGY TO DISCREDIT IT?
A. It was badly misused; interestingly, this began at roughly
the time when astrology began to be used to cast horoscopes for
individuals, although it need not have been so. Previously, this
was not the case. In ancient times only very important people such
as kings had their horoscopes cast, to help them conduct national
affairs. Astrology was also used to predict the weather, suggest
the correct times to sow and reap crops, go to war or conduct diplomatic
missions, and so on. Later, however, it degenerated as it became
used merely for fortune telling and to satisfy personal curiosity.
Q. IN THAT CASE WHAT PRICE
THE NEWSPAPER COLUMNS?
A. These are of very limited value, assuming as they do, not
only that you can simply divide the population into twelve according
to sun-sign but also that everyone will react to the same influence
in the same way. However, they are useful in that they draw peoples
attention to the fact that genuine astrology exists. And they are
(although loosely) based on real astrology, however
ridiculously generalized they may be.
Q. WHY HAS ASTROLOGY ANYTHING
TO DO WITH THE WHITE EAGLE TEACHING?
A. First, because White Eagle himself made many astrological
references in the teaching, and second, because real
astrology is a science of the soul and can help us to understand
human life and its purpose. The White Eagle School of Astrology
organizes the astrological side of the White Eagle work.
